Middle school student assaulted by Split Rail Trail

Hello neighbors,

     I wanted to let you know that my daughter was walking along Split Rail Trail Wednesday evening (10/3) at about 6PM when two men in a dark blue/black pick-up truck drove up alongside her.  A Hispanic man on the passenger side reached out and grabbed her arm and started swearing at her in Spanish/English.  The driver was a light skinned man with a black beanie on his head and he was holding a knife in one hand and flashing it at her.  She was obviously caught off-guard and thank God she had her wits about her and got mad.  She slapped the man’s hand away several times and ran away.  This happened as she was walking into the cul-de-sac on Split Rail (she was walk/running for exercise.)  The pick-up apparently turned around in the cul-de-sac and sped away (taking a right on Westbrook.)

     My daughter very shaken and upset.  We called the police who came over immediately and filed a report.  They are going to put an extra watch on our area and they asked us to contact neighbors.  I don’t have a lot of neighbors’ e-mails, so please pass this on to anyone who lives close by with kids.  Her arm is badly scratched and bruised.  Please call the police immediately if you see a dark blue/black pick-up or if you suspect something unusual.
