Keep Texas Fed 2008 Food Drive: Pickup Saturday 4/12 AM!
April 7, 2008 by president.

The Capital Area Boy Scouts are asking citizens of Rollingwood to leave canned goods out for pickup early on Saturday 4/12. This effort is part of the 2008 Keep Texas Fed food drive to stock the Capital Area Food Bank.
Scouts from several area units including Troop 990, Troop 31, and Pack 66 will be patrolling the neighborhood at 9 AM on Saturday to pickup bags of canned food. Please make sure that anything left out is clearly visible from the street.
Before Saturday, you may drop off donations at 4900 Timberline Dr.
Thank you!

Thanks for a great 5k Fun Run!
April 7, 2008 by klack.
The 2008 Rollingwood Women’s Club (RWC) 5K Fun Run was a huge success! After hailstorms Friday morning we had the most beautiful sunny, cool run weather in the afternoon! More than 250 participants came out for this year’s annual 5K fundraiser benefiting the Rollingwood Park and recreation areas.
The RWC greatly appreciates all of our generous sponsors and would like to give special thanks to:
- Franklin Bank
- Freebirds World Burrito
- Garwood & Associates
- The Green Bag Project.org
- Massage Harmony
- Miller Blueprint (for great signs)
- Runtex
- Scofield & Scofield attorneys
- Southwest Strategies
- Thundercloud Subs
- Wilson Goldrick, Amy Rung
The RWC gives huge thanks to our neighborhood bank, Franklin Bank, for sponsoring our musical entertainment. Additional thanks goes to our water stop sponsors: Edward Jones (Tim Coffey), FedEx Kinko’s (for donating all paper & copying), The Finish Line, Hop-A-Lot Moonwalks, Mira Vista, State Farm Insurance (Dick Clay), Tokyo Sushi, Westlake Market HEB, and Westlake Pediatrics.
We couldn’t have congratulated our first and second place runners without over $1500 in donated prizes provided by: Body Business, Champions Gymnastics of Westlake, Dolce Baby, Francesca’s, Great Harvest Bread, Gymboree, Hutson Clothing, Jamba Juice, Jason’s Deli, JEI Design, Mr. Gatti’s, Rollingwood Shell, Starbuck’s, Thundercloud Subs, Tokyo Sushi and Westbank Cleaners.
All participants received a green neighbor friendly reusable shopping bag provided by our own local Rollingwood resident, Frana Sadler, and her non-profit organization, The Green Bag Project.org. The bags were loaded with goodies from these local contributors: 10 Fitness.com, Abercrombie Gems, All Year Heating & Cooling, Austin’s Pizza, Body Business, Champions, Costco (race day water & paper goods) Dahn Yoga, Amelia Bullock (Diane Dillard), Dr. Sutton, Freebirds Burrito (free salad & t-shirt), Coldwell Banker (Roselind Hejl), iSOLDIT, JEI Design, Kittleman Photography, Lift Beverage Cafe, Mail Center USA, Pizza Nizza (free participant pizza), Republic Paint & Decorating, Salone Di Essenza, Scout Realty (Jaye Lynn Russell), Synergy Dance Studio, Texas Honey Ham, Verokolt Designs (Veronica Koltuniak) and Zuzu’s.
This effort could not have been possible without a lot of hard work by the RWC 5K Planning Committee:
- Lisa Kirkpatrick, Graphic Design
- Amy Rung, Food Coordinator
- Frana Sadler, The Green Bag Project.org
- Lisa Serface, Entertainment Coordinator
- Ellen Smitheal, Assistant Event Coordinator/Fundraising & T-shirts
Additional gratitude to: Shelly Bain, Sue Dawson, Cristina Feldott, Carolyn Gondran (Jesse & friends), Bea Howe (RWC President), Dede Hurson (and troop 2112), Shanthi Jayakumar, Sandy Keller, Debbi Perkins, Jacqueline Rosso, Joann Senn, Jenny Thomas (& friends) and more than 30 RWC members volunteering their time on race day.
We live in the most wonderful, supportive, friendly community. THANK YOU Rollingwood and Westlake residents! THANK YOU to our terrific local business sponsors! Without all of your support we could never have raised more than $5500 this year towards beautification efforts in our community ! ! ! ! Life is GOOD in the Wood. See y’all next year.
Sincerely,
Karen Lack, RWC 5K Event Coordinator
