Gifts to City from RWC & RNA

At the 12/17 City Council meeting the Rollingwood Neighborhood Association (RNA) and Rollingwood Womens’ Club (RWC) presented their joint gift to the City.  This year’s gift is a public address system ($3,000) for meetings held in city hall.  This system makes it easier to hear conversations during meetings and also improves the quality of archival recordings.

In addition, the RWC presented a $10,000 gift to build shade structures for the lower playground.  Based on this gift, the City is also able to apply for matching funds Johnson & Johnson.

Girls Empowerment Network Austin wants help expanding into Eanes community

I’m an intern at GENaustin (Girls Empowerment Network Austin), a non-profit organization that seeks to support and educate middle school girls in Austin and Central Texas. Our flagship program, clubGEN, reaches every middle school in Austin ISD as well as numerous schools in Round Rock, Del Valle, and Manor ISDs. Next semester, clubGEN is expanding still further to include two middle schools in Eanes ISD, providing us with the wonderful opportunity to reach even more girls with our (free!) services.

Sincerely,

Amanda Sterling

The goal this year is to provide toys and a Christmas dinner for 15,000 people; you can help by donating a toy or a non perishable food item.

Drop off bins will be located inside the Rollingwood City Hall and inside the Rollingwood Police Department located at 403 Nixon Drive, or you can contact the Rollingwood Police Department at,

(512) 328-1900 and have an officer come to your residence or place of business to pick up the item.

Help them help others this Holiday Season.

eWaste Recycling 12/6 @ Expo Center

There is a consumer electronics recycling event this Saturday at the Travis County Expo Center (7311 Decker) from 9 to 4 PM.

This is a great way to get rid of thos old TVs, computers, monitors, VCRs, DVDs, cameras, batteries, and any other ewaste items.  These items are VERY HAZARDOUS and should NEVER be thrown away in the trash.

Rob H is considering organizing a drop off in Rollingwood for people who don’t want to make the 12 mile haul to east Austin.  Details to follow.
